How we write our guides.

Our guides are written by the Homerise team and reviewed by Joern Haake, our founder. Here's how we research them, check them, keep them current, and how we're paid.

Primary sources first

Every rebate, eligibility rule and deadline is checked against the body that sets it: the Clean Energy Regulator, the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, and state and territory governments. We link those sources at the end of every guide. We use industry sites and manufacturers' published specifications for background, and we don't copy anyone else's content.

Figures that update themselves

Rebate figures come from a versioned rules table, the same one that prices our estimates. Rebate pages, calculators and estimates are calculated from it; where a guide states a figure in its text, an automated check compares it with the table, so a rule change can't leave a guide out of date. Each guide shows when its figures were last verified. The current table was verified on 26 September 2026.

How a guide is made

  • We research the topic from primary sources and the questions homeowners actually ask.
  • We use AI tools to help research and draft. Every fact is checked against its source before anything is published.
  • Each guide is reviewed by Joern Haake before it goes live, and again at least every six months and after any rule change that affects it.

Brands and products

We name brands and products when it helps you understand your options. No manufacturer, retailer or installer pays to be mentioned, and a mention isn't a recommendation. Specifications and warranties come from the manufacturer's own documents.

How we're paid

Homerise is free for you. Installers pay us for introducing you, the same for every installer. It doesn't decide what we write or who you're matched with. Because we're paid by installers, we don't present ourselves as a neutral comparison service. See how we're paid and our terms of use.

Not advice

Our guides are general information. They don't take your circumstances into account and aren't financial, tax or legal advice. Your installer confirms what applies to your home.

Corrections

If you spot something wrong or out of date, tell us using the contact details in our privacy policy. We check every report, fix confirmed errors promptly, and update the review date on the guide.
