Solar and batteries in Perth: prices, the WA battery rebate and Synergy rates
The short answer
As of October 2026, 6.6 kW of solar on a Perth home typically costs about $4,500 to $7,000 installed after the federal rebate, and about $13,500 to $21,500 with a 15 kWh battery, based on current installer prices on Homerise and published market data for Perth, the lowest of the capitals. WA adds its own battery rebate on top of the federal one, if you join a virtual power plant. Each kW of panels in Perth makes about 1,650 kWh a year, the most of any capital.
How much do solar and batteries cost in Perth?
In Perth, 6.6 kW of solar typically costs about $4,500 to $7,000 after the federal rebates, installed, GST included (October 2026):
| What you buy | Typical price |

| 6.6 kW solar | about $4,500 to $7,000 |
| 10 kW solar | about $8,000 to $10,000 |
| 13 kW solar | about $10,000 to $13,000 |
| 6.6 kW solar + 15 kWh battery | about $13,500 to $21,500 |

Ranges, not quotes, from current installer prices on Homerise and published Australian market data, before the WA battery rebate. Two storeys, a tiled roof, three-phase power or a switchboard upgrade add from a few hundred dollars to about $1,200 each. Installers' current offers can come in lower. What rebates can Perth homes get?
Perth is in STC zone 3, so the federal solar rebate is about $1,665 on a 6.6 kW system, and the federal battery rebate about $3,663 on a 15 kWh battery, if installed now; both fall from 1 January 2027. They're already taken off the prices above. Western Australia adds two programs open to homeowners: WA Residential Battery Scheme and WA no-interest battery loan. Which batteries are ready for Synergy's VPP?
It matters in Perth because of the state battery rebate: to get it as a Synergy customer, you join a virtual power plant, and your battery has to be shown as ready for Synergy's VPP on Synergy's Supported Solutions List. On 1 October 2026, Alpha ESS and Anker SOLIX were shown as ready; Sigenergy, Sungrow, GoodWe and Fox ESS were listed as provisional (not yet ready). The list changes, so check it, or ask your installer, before you choose a battery. Battery details: Alpha ESS · Anker SOLIX · which batteries work with which VPP.
How much power does solar make in Perth?
Each kW of panels in Perth makes about 1,650 kWh a year: about 190 kWh a month at the height of summer and about 90 in June (PVWatts, panels facing north at 20°). A 6.6 kW system makes about 11,000 kWh a year. Winter output is about half of summer's, which is why batteries are often sized for a winter evening.
How much does power cost in Perth?
On Synergy's Home Plan (A1) for 2026-27, power costs about 33c a kWh plus about $1.19 a day. For solar exports, Synergy's DEBS pays 10c a kWh from 3pm to 9pm and 2c at other times, so most midday exports earn very little. That makes a battery, or west-facing panels that export later in the day, more valuable in Perth than in most cities. Enter your own rates in the savings calculator.
The Solar Sharer Offer (free midday power) isn't available in WA.
